Outcome
edit- Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
I shared my experience from visiting Wikimania 2017 via Wikimedia Ukraine page (together with other participants from Ukraine), during Ukrainian Wikiconference, personal meetups.
About my visit of Wikimania was written in the newspaper Culture and Life, #35-2017 (p. 16).
- Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?
- Add a link to something new that was created as a result of your participation in this event (for example, you might link to a new tool that you and your co-participants worked on at the Hackathon, or to pages created in a workshop you participated in).
Uploaded more than 100 pictures from Wikimania event, also some pictures from other trips inside Canada, several objects were pictured for the first time (like this and this). The work of uploading pictures is in the process and also this year I joined Wiki Loves Monuments Canada contest.
Created several articles about Canada in Ukrainian Wikipedia. Also I joined Canadian women Edit-a-thon during North America Wikiconference and Editathon for Bassel where I created one article in Ukrainian Wikipedia for each event.
With help of DerFussi bug in Ukrainian Wikivoyage was fixed.
Shared my experience with newcomers in some Wiki-projects.
Connections
editSome of notable connections:
It was a pleasure to meet people and participate in Wikimania events connected with the topic of developping small and regional languages. Among them, it was nice to hear experience from Wikimedia Canada Board Members (Benoit Rochon and Amqui). With Frhdkazan we managed to discuss the question of developpment Wikiprojects in regional languages of Russian Federation.
Together with DerFussi and JukoFF we changed ideas about developping Wikivoyage project.
With Millars we discussed the situation about content in Wikipedia connected with Olympics and Paralympics. Maybe in the future we will co-organize some contest or thematic week.
It was useful to speak with Mardetanha to know about the experience of attracting people with disabilities to Wiki-projects. I am not sure I can do similar in Ukraine soon, but I have plans to do it in the future.
And also I was happy to meet people from CEE region and meet many people from all around the world and speek with them.
Anything else
editSomething good: I want to mark a good job of Transport and Travel Team. This time my trip to Canada was organized in an excellent way.
I had a chance to participate in WikiConference North America and for me, as a regular visitor of CEE events, it was very important to visit such event and share some experience.
Something bad: Unfortunately I didn't see participants from neighboring countries Belarus and Moldova. I think that such event is useful for their communities and for me the question of developping communities there is also very important.
Some wishes: I hope that in future events will be more people who active in Wikiproject, but not good in (or don't know) English. There are many of them in the world and I think that visiting Wikimania will help and motivate many of them (even to learn English).
