Participant edit

Suyash Dwivedi (India)

Outcome edit

Wikimania 2019 was my first ever Wikimania. It was great to meet, greet and interact Wikim(p)edians around the globe.

Participation edit

I along with Jayprakash12345 presented pywikisource

  • Task: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T230529 - Brief description accessible to a non-technical audience (!): Allowed Developers to get Wikisource-related data like the number of book pages, Current page quality status, proofreader, and validator in python.
  • URL: https://github.com/indictechcom/pywikisource#Demo
  • Team: @Jayprakash12345 @Suyash.dwivedi
  • Development status (pick 1): implementation
  • Audience (pick max. 2): Developers
  • Showcase presentation notes: There is a lot of activity on Wikisource in India, and they have a lot of requests to create tools for Wikisource related. Quality, proofreading, and validation data can be got by this python library.

I also attended WikiProjectMed (Open discussion of the future of WPMEDF) sessions, Commons photographers meetup

Connections edit

I was very fortunate to meet those people (its a long list) with whom I discussed ideas online / via video calls but when we meet in person discussions turned into reality

  • James Heilman and Tim Moody : We had a long discussion on Internet-in-a-Box Hardware add-ons and box designs which converted into the reality
  • Ananya Mondal: Her challenge in orgenising Wiki LovesButterfly project?
  • Butch Bustria : Discussed upcoming Wikimania and another possible global event during the Asia-Oceania meetup
  • Biplab Anand: Discussed about a possible collaboration for the projects that can be commonly done in Nepal and India.
