Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?

Add a link to something new that was created as a result of your participation in this event (for example, you might link to a new tool that you and your co-participants worked on at the Hackathon, or to pages created in a workshop you participated in).

I invite people to join the Wikimaps User Group and also take active role there. The activities have not started yet after establishing the group earlier this year, and there's plenty of space for activities. I wish that mappers from OSM and related groups could connect with people in the Wikimedia movements who need the spatial dimension to convey their work. Myself, I talked about historical mapping with several people at the event and wish to continue those activities under the umbrella of mapping.

Connections

I really enjoyed presenting in the lightning talk sessions and wish to make use of them more as an organiser as well as propose to as a presenter. The sessions gather interesting small groups of people that are brought together by co-presenting. That gives great opportunity for serendipity. I was thrilled about the Internet Archive's presentation and talked with them about my projects. I was happy to welcome Ben Vershbow to the foundation and I cannot wait to see what will happen! The Structured Data for Commons project is a great promise for not only the Wikimedia movement but beyond, for the whole Commons.

The lightning talk was accompanied by a presentation.

I gave a short talk and presented a poster about a concept for a wiki project – Wikidocumentaries. The idea is to create a participation platform where participants can draw from all Wikimedia projects and open online repositories to make sense of the material by arranging, selecting, remixing and adding information. For the memory institutions, it would be a platform for crowdsourcing everything. For Wikimedia projects, it would be a curation interface before entering data and content to Wikimedia projects. For the users, it will be a platform for citizen history with tools and space research together. I spent a lot of time talking about the idea with people: whether it would make sense for the Wikimedia community to support and adopt the idea – or whether it would be just one of the projects that participate in the cultural commons.

I also presented the GLAMpipe tool to individuals who were interested. The tool has the capacity to input data from any open repository, make sense of messy data and upload to Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. It can also handle structured data for Commons. It will be presented at WikimediaCon.
