Outcome edit

The conversations I had at Wikimania, in sessions and informally between them, have resulted in a great amount of collaborative work on Wikipedia (in English and in other languages, on Wikidata, and on Wikispecies.

As a result of a conversation at Wikimania, I agreed to be a jury member for the Tunisian part of 'Wiki Loves Earth'.

I was very taken with the "WikiDojo" way of working, which I had never encountered before, and plan to make use of that at a future meetup in the United Kingdom.

Connections edit

I ran two sessions, both at the request of the organisers. The first was a talk on "The Edit Button", which was about how and why people should make their first edit to Wikipedia. The primary intended audience was the local population of Esino Lario, although several fellow Wikimedians were present - they told me they wanted to see how I approached such a session.

The other session I ran was a follow-up workshop, with hands-on training. This was well attended and I was grateful to colleagues who dropped in to assist, given the numbers). Two of the participants were father and son, and the next day the father told me that editing Wikipedia was all his son had talked about since!

I also assisted in the delivery of a practical session on OpenStreetMap.

Anything else edit

I have hundreds of pictures, both from Wikimania and my preceding and my time in Italy, in my backlog of images awaiting upload.

Knowing I would be arriving via Varenna-Esino-Perledo station, and finding little information about it online in English, I translated en:Varenna-Esino-Perledo station from the Italian (using Google translate and an online dictionary!) to enable my fellow delegates to find their way around.
