Outcome
editAt Wikimania, we didn't create something new, but we did have the opportunity to launch a project we have been working on for a while ... the ISA tool. At Wikimania we adapted the tool for the event and launched a campaign specifically around the photographs that were under the Wikimania 2019 category. You can see the results of the campaign here: Wikimania photos described on ISA
Connections
edit- I reconnected with African Wikimedians and met new people who are interested in participating in African-based projects at the Africa Meetup;
- I was asked to contribute to a documentary on 20 years of Wikipedia by independent filmmakers.
- As always, it was a pleasure to reconnect with friends (and make new ones!!) from Wikimedia around the world!
Anything else
edit- I was attending Wikimania wearing several "hats":
- Sharing information about Wiki In Africa projects was very important. I participated in the following presentations:
- A panel on gender-equity projects across Africa
- A workshop/discussion on the Open Knowledge Curriculum
- Panellist on the Gender Gap session by Rupika (User:Wikilover90)
- Support for the team delivering the Structured Data on Commons panel
- Finally, we also had a few poster sessions that we presented:
- Advocacy Working Group member: presenting and discussing with the community the recommendations for Advocacy as prepared for Wikimania
