Outcome
edit- Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
The three of us who represented Romanian Wikipedia community (and Wikimedians of Romania and Moldova User Group) made sure to split the sessions among us, to attend as many of them as possible. We made notes in a common Etherpad https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/wikimania2018ro which we then shared to Romanian Wikipedia community on Village pump https://ro.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=12324358
- Option 2: Learning Pattern: What is one useful learning pattern you can share with the Wikimedia movement?
- Add a link to a learning pattern - either a new pattern you created with insights from your participation, or an existing pattern to which you added your endorsement and some significant new "considerations" or “examples” from your experience.
Not really a learning pattern, but we, the attendants representing Romanian community, have a better understanding and better arguments to handle the gender gap on Romanian Wikipedia thanks to this Asaf Bartov's presentation. Note that managing the gender gap is one of the main focuses of Wikimedians of Romania and Moldova User Group for 2018.
- Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?
- Add a link to something new that was created as a result of your participation in this event (for example, you might link to a new tool that you and your co-participants worked on at the Hackathon, or to pages created in a workshop you participated in).
Unfortunately I was not able to start anything new. What I did after the conference was continuing working on existing projects, such as:
- concluding Wiki Loves Earth 2018 in Moldova: organizing the awarding ceremony and handing out the prizes;
- assisting in organizing the first ever Romanian wiki conference dedicated to 15th anniversary of Romanian Wikipedia;
- negotiating a new Education Program project in Moldova, in collaboration with TwentyTu educational project in Moldova and UNICEF Moldova – to be defined and held closer to the end of the year.
Connections
edit- Met May_Hachem93 in person, whom I'd befriended prior to Wikimania and whose activity on "Wiki Loves Women"-associated projects inspires me for similar work in Moldova.
- with colleagues from CEE (Central and Eastern Europe), drew conclusions about past activities (like CEE Spring) and prepared for future projects and regional strategies.
- Amire80 contacted me to find more about the state of Gagauz Wikipedia in Moldova; I need to connect more on the subject and to involve my Gagauz acquaintances.
Anything else
editIt was a wonderful conference!
