Outcome
edit- Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.
I have a dream - to organize Wikimania in Russia. And I have a good experience in organizing of similar all-Russian events, but I did not have to hold any wiki-forums of international scale. For the second year I have been watching the organizers of Wikimania, and along with colleagues we discuss a lot with the members of the committee and with the representatives of WMF as well. After returning to Russia at the proximate meeting of Wikimedia RU we shared our impressions and discussed the possibility of applying for Wikimania in 2021 or 2022 in Moscow or St. Petersburg. So, I hope we will prepare such an application.
Connections
editIt was my second Wikimania and the first one I received a partial grant from WMF for a trip to. It was an unforgettable experience for me, I am very grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to receive it. I met a lot of Wikimedia people from Europe, Asia, America and especially from Africa (Felix Nartey from Ghana, Eliane Dominique Yao Sigan from Cote D'Ivoire, Georges Fodouop from Cameroon, Dumisani Ndubane from SA and many others). I could not imagine that the movement of Wikimedia is so developed in Africa. I also had the opportunity to meet with the Wikipedians I knew from the previous Wikimania in Montreal. And I will never forget that indescribable feeling I experienced when Jimmy Wales called the name of the Wikimedian of the Year 2018 - Farkhad Fatkullin from Tatarstan (Russia).
