Outcome edit

Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
Add a link here to a blog post or newsletter you wrote about your participation afterwards, or to a meet-up you organized to share your experience with your local community.

I shared my experiences with Bay Area WikiSalon, and I hope to share more at our future bi-monthly meetups. I also hope to develop an engaging piece for the English Wikipedia Signpost.

Connections edit

I heavily volunteered for both Wikiconference North America 2017 (the Wikimania preconference) and for Wikimania 2017. Part of my WikiCon duties were to welcome editors to the venue at the venue entrance and get them oriented. This meant I met a ton of people. I could not read the name badges (font too small), so I do not recall a ton of names, but I do remember a lot, and I remember many faces. I also did session minding and session video, so I engaged with many presenters and got to know them. I also did greeting and session minding for Wikimania. All this, plus the WikiCon Cultural Crawl, a few onsite and offsite meals and there were many opportunities to bond with Wikimedia editors and other people. The strongest new bond was with my roommate from Estonia: Raul Veede - a philosopher who actually philosophises. I saw so many new faces, so many old, and it was very cathartic to be in an environment where everybody had a good vibe and a common goal.

Anything else edit

We are a good bunch.

I will be posting 2017 photos to the Commons soon! Please check back here too.

I very much want to attend Wikimania South Africa in 2018!
