Budget breakdown

- $120 USD for visa application charge
- $1,700 USD for round trip airfare from MNL to SYD via Jetstar Airways. (Depart MNL: January 18, 2012, Depart SYD: January 24, 2012)
- $70 USD round trip for a Greyhound bus from Sydney International Airport to Canberra
- $900 USD for accommodation at Belconnen Premier Inn (Standard Twin Room) from January 18 to 24, 2012 (6 nights @ $150 USD per night)
- Total: $2,790 USD.
We are requesting the funds disbursed in advance because Wikimedia Philippines does not have a funds for this. The amount requested may be deposited through Wikimedia Philippines bank account.
Proposed Participation
editArvin Ello is a regular member of Wikimedia Philippines. He has been an educator for 11 years teaching preschool (English/ Math/ Science/ Penmanship/ Homeroom Guidance), elementary (Art/ English/ ESL/ Religion/ Scouting/ Homeroom Guidance), high school (Literature & Writing / ESL) and collegiate levels (Humanities/ Art Appreciation/ Literature/ Filipino or Philippine Studies/ English - Research & Writing). He has received his Licensure for Teaching in 2002. He stopped teaching and works as a freelance writer, blogger and translator. He is a AB-Humanities graduate and a candidate for MFA Creative Writing, both from De La Salle University, Manila. Mr. Ello plans to give a presentation at the RecentChangesCamp, sharing his experiences as an educator and writer.
Goal and Expected Impact
editMr. Ello participation at the event will benefit both Wikimedia Philippines (WMPH) and Wikimedia Australia (WMAU). It will help WMAU strengthen ties with another country in Asia and give WMAU the opportunity to interact more and work projects together with WMPH. After the event, Mr. Ello is expected to apply his learning at the unconference to the projects of WMPH, specifically on the GLAM project and Wikipedia editing workshops.
