The main challenge of 2021 remained the Covid pandemic. With the experience of the previous year, we actively addressed the existing challenges and took the principles of online work to a higher level. Numerous meetings were held, both online and in-person. We held face-to-face meetings as safely as possible in compliance with the regulations. We also hosted a WikiCamp (4 day workshop) this year for new and experienced editors, following all the rules in complete safety. There were no cases of infection in the participants after our all meetings.

One of the most important aspects of our activity is the development of regional WikiClubs throughout Georgia. Clubs are a reliable tool for the acquisition and development of human potential for Wikimedia projects. In this way, we attract people to projects, give them the right resource to work on them, and set up a stable platform for developing their skills and for developing Wikimedia projects and the Wikimedia community. In 2021, two more WikiClub were opened in the regions of Georgia. In July in the village of Arali, in Adigeni Municipality and in October in Baghdati city. This fact has increased the involvement of the regions in the Georgian Wikipedia. The opening of both clubs was preceded by face-to-face wiki-trainings, which were also conducted in accordance with the Cov-rules.

Memorandum signing ceremony in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia

It was also a big challenge to sign a memorandum with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, which took our activities to a new stage. Wikimedia UG Georgia together with Ministry of Education and Science has held three contests in Georgian and English Wikipedia. We also planned new joint projects for the next year.

We hope that the experience gained this year will increase our ability to develop programs and projects in the future, for more effective implementation of our plans and ideas. Our contribution and experience in 2021 will serve as a strong pillar to achieve our goals in 2022, which are: increasing and improving the content of Wikimedia projects, supporting and developing the Wikimedia movement in Georgia, and collaborating with various organizations locally and globally in the interests of the Wikimedia movement in Georgia.
