What worked well?

Partnership with Non-Wikimedia organisations like PlusTv Africa, Nigeria Photographic Class and Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation helps to boost our overall performance in term of output and quality of contents submitted for the contest, which recorded over 1400 images.
The launch of the project was a major approach that created massive awareness for the contest in Nigeria.
The PlusTV Africa aired 5-episodes of Wiki Loves Earth 2019 Photo review. The TV series is called " Wiki Loves Earth 2019 Jury Photo Review". The series was designed for the review of some selected photos from the overall photos submitted by participants.
We organised upload sessions for photographers. The session serves as a support and motivation to participants who couldn't afford the cost of data for uploading their photos.
NTDC, the agency in charge of tourism in Nigeria supported the contest with an equivalent sum of 1950USD to support the contest. This contribution helps to attract more contestants.
The Site notice banner helps to attract potential participants that could not participate in the official launch.

What did not work so well?

The impact of the social media campaign wasn't considered during the time of submitting our grant for this contest.
We partnered only one photographic organisation, this reduces the diversity in terms of expertise and quality that professionals could have imported to the contest.
Imporation of merchandise from Ukraine to Nigeria was a nightmare. Many of the winners are yet to receive the merchandised promised by the international organizers for the contest due to the issues arising from inter-countries importation activities.
Grant fund was disbursed weeks after the commencement of the contest.

What would you do differently next time?

We will focus on how to reach many potential participants through a vibrant social media campaign.
We will extend invitations to more photographic groups that shared the same values as ours.
We might consider local procurement of merchandise to be used for the contest in future.
Application for the grant will be done like two months before the commencement of the contest.

Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, one of our local partners supported the contest with an equivalent sum of 1950USD.
Contrary to the initial plan which is to organise two upload sessions, we were only able to organize one session because a lot of resources were invested in the official launch due to the involvement of the government agency.
