Goals

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

In this project, a video was made in which Wayuunaiki speaking users are explained how to upload content, edit and upload images to the Wikiaku'aipa Wikipedia project.

Three online meetings were held in which the following points were reached.

  • Restructuring the Wikiaku'aipa interface
  • Organization of the categories for the classification of articles
  • Creation of communication channels and support for new Wikiaku'aipa users or contributors
  • Convene more taxpayers.
  • Dissemination of the video tutorial through different channels.
  • Participation in a national and two international events to talk about the Wikipedia project in Wayuunaiki.
  • Production of the first video, of a series of video-tutorials to upload content to Wikiaku'aipa. The production of this video was done with the professional support of the Wayuu People's Communicators Network.

  • Each meeting was attended by 18 people. In the meetings the contents were reviewed, strategies were thought of to contribute to the project and also target population for training.
Video Tutorial

  • The video tutorial was reviewed by 20 wayuu editors. The first version of the video was reviewed by the group of editors, who made recommendations to improve the production.
  • It has been disseminated with 30 students. The experienced editors are professors and leaders who have been working in different areas within educational and cultural institutions. The objective is to disseminate this video in these spaces. A test was done with a group of students and the video was very well received.
 
Number of newly registered users 5 new users were registered. From the presentation of the video and also its production, new users were registered to contribute to Wikiaku'aipa.

  • 6 new articles were created
  • A video tutorial. The Wayuu Communicators Network was in charge of the script and production of the video. Similarly, the most experienced editors made contributions to make the video educational and address technical aspects of editing.
  • Wikiaku'aipa welcome interface. Since there are new contributors, a different organization was given to the welcome interface and included a support and communication channel through WhatsApp.

The tutorial was tested with all 15 teachers to confirm its usefulness as educational material in 2 online sessions. The video was produced from the logic and everyday life of the Wayuu people.

For the development of this project, the group of editors was in constant communication with the working group of ISUR. The communication took place through email, group in an instant messaging application and online meetings. There were 3 meetings, plus 2 meetings to test the video tutorial.

As a result, not only the Wayuu community has the video tutorial, but with the increased capacity that the production and the video itself provided to this group will become multipliers of these capabilities in a learning model training.

In addition, we see the potential to attract more contributors and make the projects known through other non-textual formats. The audiovisual strategy has allowed us to have better reception within the community and to have new communications with other indigenous communities.
