Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

The goal of engaging existing editors was achieved, but adding & improving content lagged behind. I am generally happy with how the project went, as this year we more than quadrupled the number of created & improved articles.

Outcome

edit

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
20 participants in photos & 8 in articles 37 participants in photos & 6 in articles The target in photos was reached thanks to the Central Notice. This year we doubled the number of participants in articles thanks to the awards, but still lagged behind the target.
N/A 28 newly registered users The Central Notice banner helped reach this fruitful outcome.
300 photos, 80 photos in articles & 60 created & improved articles 202 photos, 68 photos in articles & 52 created & improved articles The number of uploaded photos was lower than expected, as there were less newly registered users. Photo usage in articles also lagged, as a result of decreased uploading. We didn't reach the desired number of created & improved articles, because more participants started contributing only in late July.

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

The jury worked well.

  • What did not work so well?

Uploading of photos did not work so well. Usage of uploaded photos in articles was insufficiantly higher than last year. Improvement in writing the articles was also not substantial enough.

  • What would you do differently next time?

I would organize a Wiki-Expedition (be-tarask) for uploading more photos. Promotion of the existing awards for articles through messengers throughout July would also help.

Remaining funds

edit

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

I have the remaining grant funds for: 1) the 3rd place prize in photos, as the winner have not replied (c:User talk:Юрый63); 2) prizes in articles, as those funds were sent in addition to the remaining funds from 2 previous grants for those purposes. I would like to use the remaining funds as awards for creating articles about protected areas of Belarus during the "Wiki Loves Earth 2022".

Anything else

Anything else you want to share about your project?

Links to all 10 winning photos for the international round of the contest are at c:Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2021/Winners#Belarus. First 2 of those photos were awarded prizes in the local round for the 1st & the 2nd places, according to the choise of the jury. Both jury members User:Kazimier Lachnovič & User:Renessaince provided me with enormous help.
