Outcome edit

Newcomers from 15 to 20 Newcomers were 8 The same explanation in point above.

Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
  1. We successfully had an hybrid meeting, as part of the organizers joined in-person and the remaining organizers joined the event virtually.
  2. The participants were interested in the recycling activities and worked in group in the activities.
  3. The participants were engaged all the time, participants had live and productive discussions with the environment expert.
  4. The participants attended for 5 hours and no one left early.
  5. The participants are still very interested and interactive with the event, as we are still providing a virtual training approximately once each two weeks for to train the newcomers properly on Wikipedia and editing.
  • What did not work so well?

the Number of attendees were lower than the registered on the platform, although we created WhatsApp group directly after the registration to contact the participants and motivate them. The platform we used (Nahno) is well known platform in Jordan that posts a lot of events and voluntary opportunities related to Sustainable development, and usually the registered participants attend the events, as we searched about the platform before. The participates notified us hours prior the event that they will not attend.

  • What would you do differently next time?
    • we would share the announcement on different websites which share the same interests on environment issues so we get the most reach and thus the number of participants would be greater, as We posted the event on Nahno website, which shares a lot of activities in Jordan but the number of attendees was lower the expected.
    • We would schedule two separate events for one editing and the other for non-editing activities. Although the time for event was 5 hours, but discussing the recycling and environment concepts and implementing the recycling activities which were designed in our program took the majority of the event time which leads to only create user accounts on Wikipedia and provide a quick introduction about Arabic Wikipedia and Wikimedia of Levant user group. to catch the slot, we are still meeting to make edits on Wikipedia.
