Goals

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

The event, which was centered on the theme "The impact of the triple planetary crisis on rights and freedom: Leveraging on open tools and resource to create awareness and provide solutions," was a resounding success. The goal of bringing together climate and environmental activists, advocates, experts, academia, and young people to discuss the adverse impact of climate change and environmental pollution on Ghanaian rights and freedom was achieved. Keynote speakers gave insightful talks on the topic, followed by a panel discussion and a workshop to familiarize participants with Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata. With over 50 participants from targeted communities, the event was a great opportunity for learning and collaboration in the fight against climate change and to learn more about the Wikimedia movement

Organized 2 events	We organized two in-person events	We hosted two in-person events in Accra and Kumasi, inviting participants from the Southern and Northern regions of Ghana. The Accra event was attended by Dr. Antwi Bosiako, Deputy Director at the Environmental Protection Agency, with panelists including Yaw Yeboah, the Executive Director of Green Stewardship International, Ruby Damenshie-Brown from the Wikimedia Foundation, Perk Pomeyie from GYEM, Kate Opoku from Let's do it, among others. In Kumasi, the key note speaker was Prof. Philip Antwi-Agyei, an Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The panelists in Kumasi included Mizbau, Samuel Gariba, Mavis Okyere, and others. The training session on editing Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia commons was led by Maxwell Beganim, Stephen Dakyi, and Boakye Otuo-Akyampong, respectively. An in-person edit-a-thon was organized for local newbies and volunteers who participated in the workshop. Campaign dashboard.[1]
Create and improve 200+ existing and new articles	Articles were improved and new articles were created	50 new articles and over 330 existing articles were improved with 329 references. A total of 2110 edits were made.

• What worked well?

Partnership: We Partner other mission- align organization in the climate space and open space. All partners were helpful in the promotion of the event and attracting the targeted participants.

Media Campaign and media coverage: The promotion of the event on social media platforms went on well. Promotional flyer were created for participant to promote.  The event was also stream online on Facebook. The event was also featured on some news portals.  

• What did not work so well?

Delay of the disbursment of grant fund effected the organizing of the event.

IP Block : Majority of Newbies that join the events were having issues registering an account and editing due to IP block.

• What would you do differently next time?

New participants who register for the event will be advised to create their account prior to the day of the event.

An event will be organized in Tamale instead of Kumasi
