Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

First of all, everything worked well, from planning of the project to execution I would say it was an exciting and refreshing time with the new participants as the were open to learning and excited to be a part of the wikimovement.

Secondly, having participants all sited before time at the venue waiting and anticipating an hour was applaudable because it shows that the campaign we did actually worked.

Thirdly, all the sessions we had also worked out fine, seeing participants following all sessions with full concentration and asking lot of questions for clarifications.

Lastly, all participants were able to learn and carry out edit successfully during the workshop.

  • What did not work so well?

- We had a little of internet challenge during the workshop at state polytechnic as there was poor network coverage.
- Some of the participants fail to show up with their systems, and we had no choice than to hire systems so the can participate during the practical section
- We also faced a challenge of account restriction (IP blockage) during creating accounts for participants

  • What would you do differently next time?

- I will have to enquire or carry out a background research of the favorable network to use at the location so I don't encounter such again. exactly what I did before the event in federal polytechnic and we didn't encounter any network challenge.
- Participants will be reminded a day before the event to come along with their devices and also provisions for few laptops will be made available just incase some fail to show up with their devices.
-I have already tabled the IP blockage issue to the wikidata community and its in progress.

State polytechnic provided there lab for we to host the event in the school but unfortunately most of the systems in the lab wasn't working properly and some systems not having wireless network adapter for Wi-Fi connectivity, so we had to hire some systems and all participants were engage in the practical's session.
