Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes, I'm excited with how the project went and have met our target by translating over 2000+ messages from the lists of the most used categories on the MediaWiki core from English language to Hausa language.

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

Being able to carry out the project successfully is a job well done, and getting translators to translate MediaWiki for the first time in their lives and the zeal and eagerness they've shown during the Hackathon was also a very nice experience. Most especially, we have been praised by many fellow Wikimedians including the foundation staff via Wikimedia Telegram channels about the project and how it went that sees an influx of translators translating the Media Wiki project into hausa language.

  • What did not work so well?

From the beginning, we started translating large complex MediaWiki projects, e.g the WikiEducation dashboard etc, but thanks to User:Amire80 who guided me and sent a lists of the most used categories of the MediaWiki core and other lists used by the Wikimedia Foundation projects.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Extend the project timeline to provide more support for the translators.
