Goals edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

My goals were met which were to recruit new editors and i am happy with how the project went on.

  • I managed to recruit 10 editors, who were trained on the following
  • Introduction to Wikipedia
  • Introduction to Wiki Loves Women
  • Introduction to Wiki Quotes
  • Introduction to Wiki Commons
  • Identifying the gender gaps in Kenya
  • Organized an Edit-A-Thon

Outcome edit

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
3 Events I held 3 physical meet up and 4 online events I did more online training because the group was big and also due to availability of the participants
12 participants. 11 New and one experienced Wikipedia Introduced new participants to Wikipedia -Learnt how to edit on Wikipedia

-The Five Pillars of Wikipedia -How to make an edit on Wikipedia -The structure of a Wikipedia article

37 Wikiqotes created Earning how to navigate from Wikiquotes, commons to identifying notable women The participants pushed themselves to at least learn more on wiki gaps and they all did a good job of creating new quotes.

Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well? Participants learning about Wikipedia for the first time
  • The planning for all the events went really well since there were people assisting with the logistics. Early planning helped a lot
  • What did not work so well?
  • Some Participants did not commit themselves and dropped out in the middle of the project.
  • Internet become very expensive especially considering the number of people who stayed till the end of the project.
  • I taught most of the new things to participants on day one which was quite overwhelming and some were confused with everything
  • What would you do differently next time?
  • Learn how to balance between work, personal life and Wiki projects
  • Plan around well on the internet funding.
  • Train participants in bits (introduce them to Wikipedia and its projects on different days)
