Goals edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes, we met and exceeded the goals of the project and we are happy with how the project went. The project increased Librarians and Library Students participation in adding citations to Wikipedia articles. We recruited new editors from different Library institutions in Kwara State, improved the skills of existing Wikibrarians(Librarians that are Wikipedians), and added citations to increase verifiability and reliability of Wikipedia articles.

Outcome edit

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Number of new editors: 10 21 new editors We achieved and surpassed the number of new editors.
Number of articles created or improved: 100 609 The target was accomplished and exceeded because of the enthusiasm of the participants to add their own quota to the campaign. This metric can be found on the dashboard

Learning edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

Holding a series of online training and providing one-on-one supports for participants increased their contributions and made them committed to increasing the visibility and reliability of Wikipedia articles; making the target set for the campaign to be achieved and surpassed. Also the awareness created among different GLAM institutions within Kwara State before and during the campaign increased participation during the campaign. The existing editors were able to share what they already knew about adding citation to Wikipedia articles with the new editors showing that they understand and are willing to create more awareness about the Wikimedia movement.

  • What did not work so well?

There was series of reports on participants' IP address being blocked during the campaign which resulted in a little setback and loss of interest in some new editors but it was overcome quickly.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We will take precautionary measures and ensure the above-mentioned problem doesn't happen again.
