Project Goal edit

Cameroon faces serious challenges on rural development. Poverty has a strong regional dimension. It is mostly concentrated in rural areas and specifically in the northernmost regions, where structural underdevelopment and recurring climatic hazards have limited opportunities for communities to thrive and break out of the poverty trap. As well as others northern regions, North are frequently exposed to food crises and climate shocks. These, combined with poor road infrastructure, land degradation and limited people’s access to sufficient food. Insecurity are also observed in the North regions due to the threat from Boko Haram activities.

Titled #Wiki-agripo 6.0, the aim is to share and spread documented information on villages of the Cameroon’s North through a serie of group-editing. The goal of the project is to:

  • Add content on more than 300 villages of North’s Cameroon on Wikipedia (On 17th September 2020, the region has 301 articles on villages). So the progress will be more than 100% of increased number of articles.

The page for the initiative on the French Wikipedia remain the same plateform.
