来月から2020年12月までに少なくとも3回(可能であれば5回以上)、紀元前から長い歴史を持つタンゴ地域の女性や文化、伝統に関する貴重な歴史的記録をウィキペディアによって若い世代や後世に遺す取組を行います。 $2000 USD would give us the resources to carry out such an event, covering components such as venue, and technology workshops, transportation costs for cooperators.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?Edit

Edit-a-thons will be held on September 20, 2020, September 27, 2020,November 21, 2020, and at least three more (10 to 15 participants expected each). The theme of edit-a-thons will be to improve Wikipedia articles about on the history and traditional culture of each region of northern Kyoto.

2.How will you let your community know about the event?Edit

Call for Participants will be posted on a Facebook group, an outreach activities page on Japanese Wikipedia, as well as local newspapers and FM radio.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?Edit

Other than me, two to three familiar veteran Wikipedians are ready to help. However, we need two nights stay and travel expense each are essential to join a whole day event, due to remote location.

4.参加者は、参加に必要な、あるいは品質が高いコンテンツを寄稿するのに必要な、機材やスキルを持ち合わせていますか? 持ち合わせていない場合は、どのようにサポートするつもりですか?Edit

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?Edit

We already held nine edit-a-thons in this region since September 2018. Through participating these former edit-a-thons, at least 10 participants already have essential equipment and skills to contribute high quality articles. For first time participants, up to one PC and three tablets are available. Experienced Wikipedians teach carefully for such new participants in terms of skills. Book materials for contents are well-ready to be provided from at least three public libraries.

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?Edit

I am hosting a Facebook group named "edit Tango", where we can contact with participants after such events, as well as providing information on essential skills for contents creation and edit. Also providing edit-a-thons nearby and other training events. We also support future hosts of edit-a-thons.

よろしくお願いします。 Thank you.

For example, the expenses of an event we held on May 26, 2019 were as follows. Total cost per event: $982

  1. Rental Wi-fi-Cellular router: $27
  2. Venue: $50
  3. Drinks: $25
  4. Travel expenditures and hotel: $880 (for 2 persons)
  5. Wifi: $240

Previous transportation expenses for one Wikipedian to attend an event was about $220. In another case, transportation cost was about $380. Hotel costs for $70 x 2 nights x 2 persons equal $280. To keep quality of contributed articles, we need at least two helper veteran Wikipedians to support participants. Due to remote location, stays before and after the actual event day are essential for such assistants.

No COVID-19 infection has occurred in our area. However, we are careful to have a large venue to avoid congestion. In addition, we will reduce the number of participants per project and increase the frequency of holding instead. We will also enhance online support.
