- Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Currently as at 13 July 2021 New Zealand does not have any COVID cases in the community. As a result it is possible to attend this conference in person. However given the worldwide pandemic and the New Zealand government's strategy of going into lockdown to eliminate the virus in our community, GLAMs have been investing in and encouraging more digital engagement with their collections. This conference is an opportunity for me to learn more about those initiatives and also to encourage GLAMs to consider how the various Wikimedia projects and the editing community might facilitate or assist those efforts.
I am aware that some GLAMs, during New Zealand's lockdowns in 2020, encouraged staff and previously on site volunteers to engage with Wikipedia, Wikidata and WikiCommons as part of their work from home strategies. I'm keen to use this conference to encourage such efforts to continue even when our country is not in lockdown. This conference is the first national "face to face" conference of GLAM employees since the 2020 lockdown, as the 2020 conference was cancelled due to the pandemic. I am also aware that several New Zealand GLAMs are becoming more proactive in engaging with WikiProjects. For example Auckland Museum now has a Wikipedia strategy and the Alexander Turnbull Library (the archives portion of the National Library of New Zealand) has uploaded several datasets into Mix'n'match for ingestion into Wikidata eg https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/#/catalog/4003 I'm also aware that the New Zealand National Museum Te Papa Tongarewa is starting to link to Wikidata in it's online catalogue. See this example. I'm keen to discuss these efforts with attendees and also to make myself available to the attendees should other institutions be interested in making such efforts themselves. I'm aware that a member of the Wikimedia User Group of Aotearoa New Zealand is intending to put in a proposal to present at the conference and I would very much like to be there to support her. Finally attending this conference would also assist with the current outreach aims of the Wikimedia User Group of Aotearoa New Zealand as it would take place after the WikiCon Auckland event but prior to the WikiCon Wellington event. Attending this conference will be an opportunity for me to continue networking with attendees of the Auckland event (which include employees of various NZ GLAMs) and also to encourage other GLAM folk at the conference to attend the WikiCon Wellington event.

After your activities are complete, we would like to understand the draft implementation plan for your community. The report can be prepared in your language, and is not required to be written in English.
In this report, you will be asked to:

- Describe how and where you have communicated your plan to relevant communities.

Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:
- What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
- What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
- What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
- How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?
To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:

- After the conference I am intending to report back on the conference to the Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Meetup as well as the Aotearoa New Zealand Online Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Meetup groups. Notes from these meetings are shared on the Wikimedia New Zealand facebook group

Support Siobhan is a stalwart of the Wikimedia movement in New Zealand, and has presented at previous National Digital Forums from the point of view of the Wikimedian and end-user of institutional collections. From talking with members of the GLAM community in NZ over the years, I know that her advocacy for open knowledge, volunteer crowdsourcing, and open licensing of institutional photo collections has been noticed and is having an effect on institutional policies. She's also a tireless Wikimedia advocate who supports numerous events and projects in NZ, and is an excellent representative of the Movement in the media. But she's also a volunteer, and receives no funding from the WMF or any institution for all her work. Most NDF attendees work in the GLAM sector and are supported by their institutional employers, but few private individuals can afford to attend. I think it would be in the WMF's interest for Siobhan to be funded to go this year. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 01:55, 13 July 2021 (UTC)- The GLAM community in New Zealand is only beginning to understand the opportunities offered by engaging in the Wiki movement. Knowledge and understanding of what we do and how we work is very patchy in GLAMs, and having Ambrosia at this national GLAM meeting will help to raise our profile in this important group. - Support Ambrosia10 will be a useful addition to the NDF conference attendance list. As a representative of users of digital GLAM outputs she brings a viewpoint that GLAM employees need to pay attention to. This conference is very focused on building capacity and sharing knowledge within the GLAM sector of New Zealand. Having representatives of users of the digital outputs that are discussed and demoed at this conference is very influential. GLAM workers want their work to have impact on the public and this is an opportunity for a member of the public attend and advocate for other users - and specifically the users that are the editors of Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata and Wikisource. The Wikimedia User Group of Aotearoa New Zealand is going from strength to strength since lockdown in 2020 provided opportunities to link up our small editing meetups into a wider discussion via videoconference. Having representatives attend NDF is a way in which we as a User Group can continue to build influence to add to the Wiki GLAM movement within New Zealand. - Support Siobhan is a well-known member of the Wikimedia community, whose knowledge extends across the different wiki's She has a great overview of the cosy integration between wikidata, commons and Wikipedia and beyond (non-wiki information systems).
