Project Goal edit

What will be the outputs of your project and how will those outputs contribute to advancing a specific Movement Strategy Initiative

What specific Movement Strategy Initiative does your project focus on and why? Please select one of the initiatives described here
this project focuses on the Equity in Decision-making initiative to support the Yemeni community's participation in the Movement. There is currently a lack of awareness about the Movement Charter and opportunities to participate among the Yemeni community due to language and cultural barriers. By translating Movement Charter content into Arabic and raising awareness through community workshops and social media outreach, I'm aiming to increase Yemeni participation in decision-making processes and ensure their voices are included in shaping the Movement's vision and strategies.

Project Background edit

When do you intend to begin this project and when will it be completed?
September 15 to September 30
Where will your project activities be happening?
The project activities will be happening Online and in-person.
Are you collaborating with other communities or affiliates on this project? Please provide details of how partners intend to work together to achieve the project goal.
What specific challenge will your project aim to solve? And what opportunities do you plan to take advantage of to solve the problem?
this project will aim to solve the challenge of lack of Yemeni community participation and representation in Movement decision-making processes due to language, cultural and awareness barriers.
Does this project aim to apply one of the examples shared in the call for grants and if so which one?
Yes, this project aims to apply all the activites shared in the call for grants. The activities we plan to carry out include:
  1. Translating key Movement Charter documents and information about the grant opportunity into Arabic to make them accessible for the Yemeni community.
  2. Hosting community conversations, either virtually or in-person, to gather feedback on the Movement Charter sections from Yemeni community members. These conversations will be conducted in Arabic.
  3. Summarizing the discussions and feedback collected from the Yemeni community into a report.
  4. Sharing the summary report on Diff to contribute the Yemeni community's perspectives to the global Movement, in line with the grant's objectives.

Project Activities edit

What specific activities will be carried out during this project? Please describe the specific activities that will be carried out during this project.
The following specific activities will be carried out:
  1. Translations into Arabic: The Movement Charter content pages, reports, forms, and information about upcoming opportunities will be translated into Arabic.
  2. In-person community conversations/Online engagement: Two types of meetings will be organized to spread awareness among the Yemeni community about the Movement Charter.
  3. Documentation of discussions: The inputs and recommendations from the Yemeni community during the discussions will be carefully documented in Arabic and later summarized in a report.
  4. Report writing: A summary report will be written in both Arabic and English consolidating the Yemeni community's perspectives and feedback on the Movement Charter sections and how to ensure their inclusion and representation.
  5. Sharing the report: The summary report highlighting the needs and perspectives of the Yemeni community will be shared on Diff and other relevant platforms to ensure their inclusion in the global Movement.

The primary activities will therefore involve translating materials, hosting discussions, documenting community inputs, writing a summary report and sharing that report to include the Yemeni community's voices in shaping an inclusive Movement Charter.

Additional information edit

If your activities include community discussions, what is your plan for ensuring that the conversations are productive? Provide a link to a Friendly Space Policy or UCoC that will be implemented to support these discussions.
To ensure that community discussions are productive, we will follow the Friendly Space Policy at the beginning of each conversation to set ground rules for respectful and constructive engagement.
If your activities include the use of paid online tools, please describe what tools these are and how you intend to use them.
I'm going to use free tools
Do your activities include the translation of materials, and if so, in what languages will the translation be done? Please include details of those responsible for making the translations.
The translation will be done into Arabic, and I will be responsible for the translation.
Are there any other details you would like to share? Consider providing rationale, research or community discussion outputs, and any other similar information, that will give more context on your proposed project.
This project aims to increase Yemeni community participation and representation within the global Movement by addressing barriers related to language, awareness and accessing information. A lack of awareness currently limits Yemeni involvement in Movement initiatives despite strong interest in helping shape a more just and peaceful vision.

Outcomes edit

After your activities are complete, we would like to understand the draft implementation plan for your community. You will be required to prepare a document detailing this plan around a movement strategy initiative. This report can be prepared through Meta-wiki using the Share your results button on this page. The report can be prepared in your language, and is not required to be written in English.

In this report, you will be asked to:

  • Provide a link to the draft implementation plan document or Wikimedia page
  • Describe what activities supported the development of the plan
  • Describe how and where you have communicated your plan to relevant communities.
  • Report on how your funding was spent

Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:

  • What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
  • What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
  • What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
  • How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?

To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:

Please confirm below that you will be able to prepare a draft implementation plan document by the end of your grant:

  • Yes, I agree.

Optionally, you are welcome to include other information you'd like to share around participation and representation in your activities. Please include any additional outcomes you would like to report on below:
