Proposal edit

1. What is the overall vision of your organization and how does this proposal contribute to this? How does this proposal connect to past work and learning?

The Wikimedia Community of the Republic of Srpska primarily strives to contribute to the enrichment of content on Wikimedia projects through activities that are realized through three program areas: community activities, GLAM and Edu program. In parallel, it aims to maintain the stability of the organization and improve its work by increasing the number of projects, members, partner institutions and various organizations throughout the country. Also, one of the important goals is to connect and establish cooperation with other Wikimedia organizations and to improve our own resources in terms of acquiring new knowledge and technical skills. Concretely, during the specified period we want to improve the Edu program that was neglected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, increase the number of Museums involved in cooperation within the GLAM program and encourage the use of QRpedia codes, contribute to free knowledge through photo competition on Wikimedia Commons and competitions on Wikipedia, influence on the reduction of the gender gap through Wiki Women's projects in Republic of Srpska and participation in the Wiki Gap campaign, join the international projects CEE Spring and # 1Ref1Lib, strengthen cooperation within the community through live events and improve community skills through online and offline meetings. We also want members to be trained to work on the Wiki Data project, in order to improve the work of the community in the future, especially in the GLAM sphere.

2. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important?

In addition to the individual project goals, during the specified period we want to strengthen the work of the community mostly in terms of training and engaging members to work independently on various projects in accordance with their interests and competencies. This task is a step towards the planned strategic goal - registration of the organization and obtaining employed staff by 2024. In addition to the legal legitimacy of the community in the country, which would be improved by this, the organization would have a solid foundation in terms of human resources, which would facilitate and improve the work of the organization in quantitative and qualitative terms.

3. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

The basic precondition for the growth and development of the community are clearly defined plans and goals of development towards which the community should move in the coming period. In accordance with the external needs and capacities of the group, the community will focus on achieving the following strategic goals during the specified period.

Strategic goals:

1. Strengthening community capacity
1.1. Strengthening the community (increasing the number of members and strengthening existing relationships)
1.2. Increasing the number of activities
1.3. Territorial coverage
1.4. Education and skills improvement of active members
2. Improving the GLAM program
2.1. Increasing the number of activities
2.2. Increasing the number of GLAM partner institutions
2.3. Geographical coverage
3. Improving the Edu Program
3.1. Increasing the number of activities
3.2. Increasing the number of Edu partner institutions
3.3. Increasing the number of professors involved in the work
3.4. Geographical coverage
4. Cooperation with external partners

4.2. Cooperation at the international level
5. Overcoming gaps
5.1. Overcoming the gender gap
5.2. Overcoming the thematic gap
6. Public activities
6.1. Involvement in public events
6.2. Reporting through our own media
6.3. Cooperation with the media

The stated strategic goals are defined on the basis of the analysis of the previous work, interests and needs of the community as well as the development moment in which the community is currently.

4. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

We plan to realize the following activities within the three program areas.

We strive to include new people in the work of the community and work on Wikimedia projects by implementing relevant activities aimed at target groups and presenting comprehensive Wikimedia projects with special emphasis on areas relevant to their area of interest. We strive to retain members by respecting the wishes and interests of members and employment in accordance with that and maintaining a positive atmosphere in the community.

13. Do you have plans to work with Wikimedia communities, groups, or affiliates in your country, or in other countries, to implement this proposal?

Yes

13.1 If yes, please tell us about these connections online and offline and how you have let Wikimedia communities know about this proposal.

In the period from December 2021 until now, our organizational team, in cooperation with interested members, had online working meetings at which our next activities were planned and we worked on improving the Community Development Strategy until 2024. Analyzes of previous results were performed and proposals for new projects and goals that the community should go towards were given. Care was taken to ensure that all programs were evenly represented and that each was developed in accordance with the development of the community.

14. Will you be working with other external, non-Wikimedian partners to implement this proposal?

Yes

14.1 Please describe these partnerships and what motivates the potential partner to be part of the proposal and how they add value to your work.

During the specified period, we plan to cooperate locally with tourist organizations, faculties and gymnasiums, museums, libraries and galleries, women's organizations, churches, theaters and sports editorial offices. Cooperation refers to the provision of logistical assistance in terms of providing participants, joint work on projects as well as the promotion of the community and its activities. The community has a built reputation in terms of past cooperation and positive results achieved to mutual satisfaction, so it is not difficult to gain new partners. Also, the community provides them with activities that they themselves recognize as useful for improving their work. In addition to local cooperation, we want to strengthen cooperation with other Wiki organizations through projects CEE Spring, 1Ref1Lib, Wiki Gap, participation in various online and offline events organized by wiki branches.

15. How do you hope to sustain or expand the work carried out in this proposal after the grant?

In the field of the GLAM sphere, there is a lot of interest in our activities, which gives us the opportunity to plan further work, involve new institutions in cooperation, as well as maintain already established links. In the field of Edu programs, we have previously cooperated with several state faculties and high schools in the country, which recognized our activities as useful for improving the teaching process. In addition, we have built a network of associates - professors and teachers who cooperate with us, so that all this gives us the opportunity for further development of the program. In the area of community action programs, we rely on community capacity and assessment according to current capabilities.

16. What kind of risks do you anticipate and how would you mitigate these. This can include factors such as external/contextual issues that may affect implementation, as well as internal issues, such as governance/leadership changes.

We are most concerned about the possibility of a return of Covid-19 pandemic and the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and a possible crisis. In the first case, we would adjust the activities to the online format and reallocate the funds in agreement with our officer. Otherwise we would follow the WMF instructions.

17. In what ways do you think your proposal most contributes to the Movement Strategy 2030 recommendations. Select a maximum of three options that most apply.

Increase the Sustainability of Our Movement, Improve User Experience, Invest in Skills and Leadership Development

18. Please state if your organization or group has a Strategic Plan that can help us further understand your proposal. You can also upload it here.
