Proposal
edit1. What is the overall vision of your organization and how does this proposal contribute to this? How does this proposal connect to past work and learning?
Our community of Ukrainian animators, illustrators, and designers will tell the story of the first weeks of our fight for Freedom from the inside: Stories you may have heard about on the news. Stories of those who are no longer with us but live on in our fight to rebuild. Stories that have transcended reality into patriotic myth.
2. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important?
Millions of people in Ukraine have lost their jobs. The uncertainty of what each day will bring has become the norm. Many families, friends, and colleagues have lost everything. I believe it's the responsibility of those who can still work, generate some form of income, and have the tools to communicate through art to care for those who cannot manage or speak for themselves.
3. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
The animated film we are going to produce will tell 4 stories: the rescue of horses from a stable in the city of Gostomel which was set ablaze by the invaders in the first days of the war. The story will be from the perspective of a ginger-maned horse named Phoenix; the story of a refugee family fleeing their home in occupied Bucha; the story of Nadia (Nadia means "hope" in Ukrainian). A nurse by trade, she lived in the United States when the war started and decided to return to Ukraine; the story of Issuf, a student from Nigeria who studied in Mariupol when the war started. During the invasion he was rescued by the defenders of Azovstal factory.
4. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?
The production will have 4 stages: 1) creating animatic; 2) sound recording; 3) animation process; 4) post production activities.
