General information
editThis form is for organizations receiving Wikimedia Community Funds (General Support) or Wikimedia Alliances Funds to report on their mid-term learning and results. See the Wikimedia Community Fund application if you want to review the initial proposal.
- Name of Organization: Shared Knowledge
- Title of Proposal: Shared Knowledge Annual Plan 2022
- Amount awarded: 37052.48 USD, 32784 EUR
- Amount spent: 14288 EUR
Part 1 Understanding your work
edit1. Briefly describe how your strategies and activities proposed were implemented and if any changes to what was proposed are worth highlighting?
- In order our strategies and activities to be implemented and accomplished, the activists of Shared Knowledge needed to focus on specific group(s) depending on each project. With this being said, the interest groups in the Education & Science Program were academic and high school staff, university and high school students.
2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you feel are being effective in achieving your goals?
- The approach was to engage the eventual participants to join in our activities and describe to them the benefits of participation such as getting editing skills, learning new information and knowledge, indirect promotion of the individual or the organization they serve, socialization and team building.
3. What challenges or obstacles have you encountered so far?
- Getting participants is no easy feat. The invited individuals or organizations are often uninterested, do not have the time or will to contribute on our Wikimedia platforms, and do not want any volunteerism by them.
4. Please describe how different communities are participating and being informed about your work.
- The communities are directly informed about our past, present and future activities, no mater it was in the current year or the past years. They as an entity can participate/contribute with invoke and advocate our program at their grid of people (members, collaborators, volunteers). They can help with providing or pointing out proper literature and knowledge in the field of their expertise. Another interesting example is the project "WikiVillage" where the local government approved the installment of QR-coded informational plaques and logistical support and literature from the Štip Museum. In the Botanic Garden Skopje Project, the Botanic Garden staff assisted at the photoshoot by providing us with the proper plant species nomenclature and providing us their superior Institute of Biology with students i.e. participants.
5. Please share reflections on how your efforts are helping to engage participants and/or build content, particularly for underrepresented groups.
- Unfortunately, the majority of our participants are usually one time participants, generally in the voluntary projects. The returning participants are mostly at the prized competitions.
6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What have you learned so far about these areas during this period?
- This half of the year was a period for learning about keeping more concise statistics as a guideline for the next half of 2022 and the next years over all. The learned to promote the benefits of the involvement by the participants/organizations so they join (if new) or to continue in our later projects.
7. What are the next steps and opportunities you’ll be focusing on for the second half of your work?
- In the second half, our main focus will be the projects and activities that were not started or partially finished from a statistical point of view. The yet not engaged projects includes WikiLectures, Wikidata Workshop, WikiTours, Geoexpeditions, Veloexpeditions, Astroexpeditions, Visiting Libraries & Museums, Cinemateque of Macedonia Project.
