Part 1 Understanding your work edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

I firstly sought the school management cooperation in letting the project to take place in the college by personally visiting the college with the help of college's SUG president who happen to be my friend. The project is welcome by different offices visited including: provost office, students' affairs office, department of dental office etc. I created posters, and stickers which were distributed to the staff and students during the visit seeking permission in the college campus.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Yes, the approach followed which made my goal effective and achievable was having the SUG president of the college by my side. We made all things possible right from the seeking permission of the college authority down to the gathering of the student for the awareness campaign.

The most interesting part on the first day of the event is that I and other experienced editors took a tour round to the college meeting students at different joints explaining Wikipedia and its sister's project to them. We also visited some academic offices introducing Wikipedia, we got welcome remarks from both the students and the offices visited. On the second day of the event, I introduced Wikipedia and its sister's project to the participants after then , other experienced editors including Em-mustapha, Gwanki, Umar-askira, Mbash Ne, Salihu Aliyu and others picked specific parts and taught the participants. We enter a practical aspect of program which projector us used to teach the participants. Going round and mentoring, guiding, showing the participants how to edit has kicked off. We had a peaceful and successful, nice sessions where all participants and the facilitators are happy.

E. Encourage the retention of editors Not applicable to your fund
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Not applicable to your fund

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

As women are mostly underrepresented, so I provided all the necessary support like bus to pick them up to and from the event hall as most women don't have local transport to attend the event.

Part 2: Your main learning edit

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

The project's aim is to promote and make awareness of Wikipedia to people of Makarfi, particularly women who are underrepresented. Women are underrepresented and they shy to explain themselves so we tried as much as possible to bring women as editors so that they give and share their own knowledge and contribute to Wikipedia development. We showed them what Wikipedia and its sister project are all about making them to pick interest in contributing to Wikipedia I then moved ahead to create a WhatsApp group and added them up for more coaching, guidance and learning.
