1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

This project's main objective is to contribute towards increasing the number of active users in Sudan by encouraging new users to participate in highlighting issues related to the right to a healthy environment as a Human Right. The project will work on building capacity of new users and enhance their knowledge of Human Right and Right to healthy environment this will be done in partnership with Local NGOs and initiatives working on environmental rights. University Students, Journalist and members of the Sudanese Woman Cyclist We believe that Sudan is a moge the most affected countries of global warming and that the current political and economical situation is pushing the environmental issues and policies to be less priorities. The weak coverage of the media on issues related to pollution and the environmental hazard is the main concern of this project. We believe that having A Sudanese member UN's Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change is an opportunity to highlight the role of youth in leading the future informed decisions related to climate change

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

The project will use the main strategy of building capacity of new users who will be selected from the target group who have interest and at least basic knowledge on human rights.

The project will develop partnership with key main actors in issues related to climate change such as local NGos and initiatives, journalists and university students.


The main strategy of the project will be a participatory approach where the main involved partners will help identify the main topics to be covered by the capacity building activities and the main indicator of reaching our goals.

Partnership development activities which include impersonal and online meetings and orientation sessions, with NGOs, Universities staff, Sudan Community user group active users, Photographers and Journalist.

Developing the campaign matrix and media materials,

Developing campaign list of topics and articles to be enhanced or created through meetings and online editing sessions. Capacity building activities such as: Training of new comers (New users training , Photographers ) ( two day training workshop in person) Edit thon sessions ( in person, online)

Desing and printing of messages on environmental rights as human right.

The project core team will be Maram Ali (user:Maram ali ahmed) as project Coordinator managing the financial and partnership building requirements (meetings and communication), facilitation meetings and conducting training. Ola Mahadi(user:ola.mahadi) as project activities officer will be mainly coordinating the events details and contacting participants collecting data and feedback. Hassan Osman (user:Hassan Hassoon)Documentation and media will be maily documenting the projects activity help in project materials design and social media platform follow up. Fatima Mohamed (user:Fatima exceptional) Capacity building officer fatima will be mainly responsible from developing materials and data for the campaign and following up with the new users on technical issues.

Topics of human rights tend to be looked at as elite issues and t not for public. highlighting this to participants will enable them to take informed decisions. Developing content within context of Sudan. The content developed will highlight the main actors in this issues in Sudan Context. As the right to a healthy environment is a core part of the SDGs developing related content to build capacity on policies affecting those rights. Highlighting main issues in Sudan context.

the community is implementing the activities inline with the guideline of Friendly space policies. لThe community is actively sharing information on our community channels and through in person meetings.

we attended a meeting with the regional coordinator and had a second  meeting with her as a community to discuses details related to the proposal.

the project will be implemented in partnership with local NGOs and initiatives working on environmental rights we beleive that building such partnership will help both of us building our communities capacity the NOGs members have a good potentials to become active users for Wikimedia projects and they can benefits from accessing open knowledge and share content they develop. the local NOGs will provide materials and content to improve the capacity of project activity participant around issues and topics of Human Right and right to a Healthy Environment. we already have members of Journalist which make accessing the target group easier and we think by reaching out to the journalist community we facilitate having source of information to be shared freely on Wikipedia. We think it is a good start to introduce our community and the work we do and the opportunity that Wikimedia offer to University students focusing on youth as a leader of change.

15. What do you hope to learn from your work in this fund proposal?

By the end of the training workshop we expect that the participants will be able to highlight the content gaps in the thematic topics around pollution and recycling , their awareness on the right to a healthy environment issues as a core right of human rights is developed and they can better share this knowledge on social media. Articles on effects of Climate change in Sudan will be supported by content of media from wiki commons.
