Part 1 Understanding your work edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

A WhatsApp group was established to add old volunteers and new ones who were interested in the project. The social media platforms Instagram and Facebook were created in order to attract new people who are professional photographers to participate in the project. A Google form was devised to facilitate the registration of participants for the primary event, namely the "WLE photowalk in Ghana.". A session was conducted to facilitate the uploading of photos captured by the participants.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

The Photowalk event was very effective, as it facilitated the recruitment of new volunteers who were previously unaware of the Wiki Loves Earth Competition and the Wikimedia Foundation, along with its sister projects. These individuals have demonstrated a keen interest in the Wikimedia movement and have expressed their willingness to participate in any future projects. We conducted an upload session, which I found to be highly effective. The participants were provided with the opportunity to inquire about the Wiki movement and its projects, resulting in a clear understanding of its significance. In order to keep new and old volunteers (participants), The creation of the WhatsApp group proved to be an excellent means of communication. It served as an effective platform for receiving updates on the competition, and I plan to maintain it for future correspondence.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

4. To what extent do you agree with the following statements regarding the work carried out with the support of this Fund? You can choose “not applicable” if your work does not relate to these goals.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Agree
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

There are many people and groups out there that are enthusiastic about volunteering, so organizing this photo contest offered me insight into uniting participants under one banner. They were happy to join a WhatsApp group that I created in order to develop a plan that I may use for subsequent projects. The only thing that served as a barrier was the fact that some people signed up to attend the scheduled photowalks we went on, but did not show up. This unfortunate activity disrupted some of our programs.

Part 2: Your main learning edit

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

In my application, I wrote about people's involvement and also learn about how to effectively manage the project. Throughout the project, I learned how to get or bring people to join the project from start to finish. I was able to accomplish this by sharing the project with various community members and groups, as well as speaking with friends who are photographers, who in return brought their friends on board. I was able to manage the project by adhering to my timelines, and even when unexpected circumstances arose, I was prepared to handle them.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

The only unexpected thing which happened was I got seriously sick along the line during the project and I stay off till I recovered. This delayed our activities for a while.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
