1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

The global annual WikiForHumanRights campaign rallies wikimedia communities to take action to improve and contribute to wikimedia projects stories of environmental rights which enable safe and stable climate, healthy ecosystems and a non-toxic environment. In its third year of operating under the theme ‘’Right to a Healthy Environment’’, regions are empowered to coordinate community or country efforts according to what is suitable for the region. The Africa region is shaping the campaign to build local knowledge related to the broader theme by shifting focus of action to wikimedia projects such as wikidata that have knowledge gaps on the local actions, initiatives or projects led by local climate or environmental activists in Togo in Africa. In addition, we seek to improve the knowledge gap about these existing topics on french wikipedia in the region in a way it will be accessible to people in Togo. Through this campaign, we hope to build the knowledge of participants and the public about climate change and environment words in French that will serve as useful tools for local climate advocacy and communication in Togo.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

1.Document stories, people and words related to environment and climate change in Togo

Build knowledge of participants and the public about climate change and environment vocabulary in French, Ewe language. Organize Word-a-thons that will help participants learn how some environment words are pronounced and written in French and awareness about the importance of building local knowledge about such words in diverse language. Build the knowledge of participants on how to contribute climate change and environment vocabulary to wikimedia projects. Support participants to benefit from the different capacity building sessions and resources on wiktionary, wikidata and wikiquote organized by the campaign for the African region.
