Other (please specify) Defining the importance of the Santali Community strategic meet: The future of the Santali community within the Wikimedia ecosystem lies in fostering a vibrant, active, and sustainable group of contributors who are dedicated to creating, curating, and promoting content in the Santali language. By doing so, we aim to make Santali one of the well-represented languages on Wikimedia platforms, ensuring that the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of the Santali community is preserved and accessible to all. Why This is Important: Preservation of Language and Culture: The Santali language and culture are underrepresented in the digital realm. By increasing Santali content on Wikimedia, we ensure the preservation and promotion of this rich heritage for future generations. Educational Resource: Creating a robust repository of Santali content provides valuable educational resources for students, educators, and researchers. This promotes literacy and learning within the Santali-speaking community and beyond. Community Empowerment: Engaging the Santali community in Wikimedia projects empowers them to take ownership of their digital presence. It fosters a sense of pride and responsibility in documenting and sharing their language and culture. Global Visibility: By enhancing the representation of Santali on Wikimedia, we raise global awareness about the Santali community. This can lead to increased recognition, support, and opportunities for collaboration. Diverse Knowledge Base: Adding Santali perspectives and content to Wikimedia enriches the diversity of knowledge available on these platforms. It contributes to a more inclusive and comprehensive representation of human knowledge. Strategic Actions: Organizing Edit-a-thons and Content Creation Drives: Regular events to encourage the creation and improvement of Santali content on Wikimedia platforms. Training and Workshops: Capacity-building sessions to enhance the skills of Santali contributors in areas such as editing, content creation, and community management. Partnerships and Collaborations: Collaborating with educational institutions, cultural organizations, and other Wikimedia communities to support and promote Santali content. Community Support and Engagement: Creating support systems, including mentoring programs and online forums, to help new and existing contributors.
