Part 1: Project and impact edit

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

We held the Ibibio Language on Translatewiki.net 2.0 in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, where we have held all our edit-a-thons and translate-a-thons. On the day of the project, we, the non-recognized Ibibio Group (in the process of applying for official status), conducted a refresher training for our old editors and succeeded in completing the translation of the remaining 253 of the most important messages of the MediaWiki software on the translatewiki.net platform.

We couldn't get new editors to join the project, but some of our old editors turned up, and we finished the translation of the most important messages of the MediaWiki software on the translatewiki.net platform, which we started during the first version of this project.

Just like in the first version of the project, we again assigned the participants a list of phrases, which helped to make the project easier because participants focused on their own assignments without having to tamper with the work another participant was assigned to.

After we rounded up the project, we gave certificates and souvenirs to participants, and as usual we gave out prizes to the top five best editors to show appreciation for their performances. We encouraged all participants to try as possible to keep on editing even after the conclusion of the project.

We are pleased with the results we achieved during this project. We are glad that with this the chances of getting our own domain have increased greatly.

Part 2: Learning edit

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: We hope to learn how other Ibibio language speakers can effectively contribute to the project by sharing their unique ideas and how to further create rooms for improvement for the betterment of our group objectives.

We also hope to learn what encourages the participants to keep participating whenever called upon.

We will learn the new challenges the participants have probably faced since our last project and how best we can help them. We believe that helping our participants will make their contributions easier for hitch-free volunteering. The lessons will help us to create better projects in the future and also help us to finally have our own domain.

Our last project helped us get to know and understand the thoughts of the participants and their opinions towards the growth of the group's project. Most participants acknowledged and were happy that the Ibibio language is gaining online representation on Wikipedia, which has not been so over the years. The majority suggested that a brief outing or mini-rally be conducted before each project kicks off; this is to gain the attention of Ibibio native speakers. They acknowledged the fact that the advertisements go a long way in relating upcoming projects to people, but this outing or mini-rally would help entice people and create a lasting impression on Ibibio native speakers. This will help draw their attention and prompt them to join the movement.

Participants also noted that the fact that the Ibibio language has been represented online is a great motivation for them. Others added that they always look forward to meeting their fellow Ibibio language speakers to rub minds each time we announce an upcoming project.

The participants mentioned that they usually find time constraints a challenging factor in their contributions after the projects. And because they are mostly students, their school activities and schedules usually limit their ability to contribute more to the contents of Ibibio after each project. We encouraged them to try as much as they could and not to let their volunteer work hinder them from doing well as students. We agreed that we would always check up on our student-participants to know how they are faring with their studies and provide the best possible advice to help them do better at school. We also enjoined participants to engage each other on our group platform to state how they've been contributing so far to Ibibio language contents; this will serve as a reminder and further motivate other participants.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

During the course of our last project, we were surprised and excited as well that participants no longer saw themselves as mere Ibibio editors, but the Ibibio group had grown to become more like a family. We noticed that participants were free with each other, and the last 3-day meeting turned out to be fun-filled and exciting for everyone.

We learned that because we, the leaders, made ourselves accessible and also made it a priority to value our participants, they have become fond of the group, a place where they don't try to force fun. They are more interested in contributing and ensuring the objectives of the group are met to the best of their abilities.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

We have been sharing our project learnings and results with other community members through the social media groups we have set up, letting them know our progress and current outcomes.
