Part 1: Project and impact edit

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

The Ibibio Language on Incubator project was successful. Just like our other activities, it was held in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. During the project, we, the non-recognized Ibibio Group (in the process of applying for official status), trained the recruited participants who were Ibibio language native speakers.

The new participants were freshly trained on registering a Wikimedia account and contributing to Wikimedia projects. A refresher course was done for the old editors who were eager to contribute more during the project. Articles were created on Ibibio Wikipedia on Incubator after the training of the participants was concluded.

At the conclusion of the project, certificates and souvenirs were given to the editors, while the top 5 editors received awards and prizes as a form of motivation that their works were recognized. The new editors joined our groups, where we're currently engaging them. Also, all the editors were enjoined to continue editing even after the project had ended.

Printed flyers were used to recruit the participants physically on the streets of Uyo, and those who indicated interest were sent an online form in order to collect their data for the proper registration of the project.

With the results and progress achieved in this project, we're satisfied and glad that the chances of getting our own domain have increased rapidly.

Part 2: Learning edit

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: I hope to learn how our past projects have really helped our community members and how we can further help them be better editors by listening to their challenges and providing concrete solutions, as the case may be.

Our past projects really helped our community volunteers become better editors, which they demonstrated during this edit-a-thon, as their editing style has greatly improved.

The participants are now more confident editors after practicing overtime. They clearly stated that they have become a source of inspiration to the Ibibio people around them, as others now look up to them as agents of promotion of the Ibibio language.

Through this project, we learned that the support of our community members in actualizing our dream of getting our own domain is unwavering.

Those that were lost during the project were given the opportunity to ask questions, and answers were always provided to make sure everyone was following.

The participants are very interested in the success of Ibibio Wikipedia and pledged to keep contributing towards the promotion of the Ibibio language. They showed much interest in always showing up for any project and participating effectively.

As requested during our proposal to get feedback from the participants concerning the training style used, their interest in continuing to use what they learned to contribute to Wikimedia projects, and the potential barriers. We asked the participants what they could say about the training style used during the training, and they were all satisfied that they learned through the methods easily.

During the project, we had a little challenge as the participants were delayed for a few minutes due to the poor network connection in the environment where the edit-a-thon was held.

For our next project, we will ensure proper investigation of the network connection available in the environment and use the most effective service provider for good service delivery and a seamless experience.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

There were no uncommon circumstances during our last edit-a-thon. Although the weather condition was showery due to the rainy season at the time.

During these seasons, we already made it clear to the participants to always come prepared with either an umbrella or a rain jacket, as the weather may be unpredictable. This is to ensure that they can come and also go back without any barrier from the weather.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

We are going to share our project experiences with other community members, letting them know our progress and current outcomes, where we hope to be, and how they could support us in our future projects, as the case may be.
