Part 1 Understanding your work edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

We used the school outreach Model to reach out to students and teachers(instructors) from the Juba Christian school in Juba, South Sudan. The students and teachers had a Wikimedia awareness and a peer-to-peer module for training students and teachers.

We managed to aware the teachers, and students and as well trained them on how they could be contributors to the Wikimedia space (projects ) we focused on Wikipedia, and Wikicommons as the main projects that we provided awareness to, the teachers and students.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Yes! The strategy of Peer to Peer learning was such a practical methodology, where trained young wikimedians in the capital juba, we again used as co-facilitators during this training and awareness, this local approach aided in the ease of learning and understanding the relevance of all that we taught, we also used audio-visual tutorials, which we had access to, to be able to inform the students and teachers about the relevance and their participation.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

4. To what extent do you agree with the following statements regarding the work carried out with the support of this Fund? You can choose “not applicable” if your work does not relate to these goals.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Strongly agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Strongly agree
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Strongly agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Strongly agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Strongly agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Strongly agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

As a country of 64 tribes very multi-cultural, bringing students from different ethnic representations was an add-on to our level of diversity and we see later students promising to be able to take initiatives in creating content about their communities.

Part 2: Your main learning edit

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

- We realized that there was very little content about the history of the country and the geography that was documented on Wikimedia, and as well most of the existing content not being written by south Sudanese youths students or citizens, we also found out that adding content about the culture had a heritage of south Sudan is such a topic of the impact that affects both social and educational aspects of the country

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

We managed to have very interested teachers and students in the Wikimedia projects something we expected but not to the extent we managed to get since Wikimedia as a whole has not been aware that enough in our communities.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

We now have a priority in creating more content about the culture, heritage, history, and forefathers of south Sudan and representing the responsibilities of women whilst creating an impact in those days and using this information to reshape the narrative presentation of women in the freedom fighting of the country but also providing educational resources for the history, literature and geography classes of south Sudan schools

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
