1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

To change the perspective of student on the use of Wikipedia as a learning tool. This is because it is perceived that information from Wikipedia are often not professional and hence unreliable. To encouraged local writers to write and edit article on Wikipedia using Hausa to enable the more usage of the language in Academia. To increase the number of Hausa language editors on Wikipedia. This is because there are only few editors of Hausa origin.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

1. Awareness creation. The wrong perception about the use of Wikipedia as a learning tool is due lack of awareness, so this strategy will go an long way in changing the the perception to the right one.

Writing competition. This will bring writers from different institutions to showcase their talent and further encourage them to increase their contribution to articles in Hausa language on Wikipedia.

Yes. We have a team of volunteers who will give in their best for the success of the project.

The project will create awareness on the use of Wikipedia by local writers which will in turn boost the number of Hausa articles on Wikipedia and eventual close the content gab of Hausa language on Wikipedia.

The target participants are student writer within the Federal tertiary institutions in Gombe state. We will engage them but online and offline through workshop and awareness creation. We will have a social media group such as WhatsApp or telegram group that will serve as a platform for further engagement after the project. We are contact the target participants who are Hausa writers and present in Gombe state which is a state dominated by Hausa speakers and use that to address the gab in contribution of Hausa articles and editing.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

By engaging participants irrespective of their gender, socioeconomic status or religious affiliations. This will give equal opportunity and fair play for all.

The proposal was written in collaboration with the members of the community who are active participants in planning of the project. Each and everyone of the volunteers has contributed in one way or the other in planning of this proposal.
