Part 1 Understanding your work edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

We followed the same system that we implement from our past campaigns. Teams are divided to handle different parts of the work such as tracking the edit contributions, identifying the women to be interviewed, planning for the sessions, and funding matters. Mostly of the volunteers have already been part of the previous campaigns and have the skills for implementing the program. It has helped a lot to have this team who would assist me in tracking the developments of the campaign. The Art+Feminism has also helped out during the preparation of the virtual meet-up. We have conducted two online meetings to ensure that everything was well planned. A day before the event, we have visited the venue to try out the devices to be used. We have also mapped out how we would position the volunteers, the big screen, and the podium. The program was well organized to achieve time efficiency and avoid the waste of resources.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

One new approach we have tried this year is connecting directly with the Art+Feminism. We have done one virtual meet up with them and it has actually helped us in introducing the campaign especially for newbie volunteers. Old volunteers were also able to meet the persons behind the Art+Feminism and they were able to see that our activity does not only end in our area but has a global effect in terms of advocacy and improvement in Wikiprojects. Asking support from the Art+Feminism is also a big help for us not only for collaborating with the project but so as with amplifying the event. Our event was attended by some online participants who were interested in our campaign.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

4. To what extent do you agree with the following statements regarding the work carried out with the support of this Fund? You can choose “not applicable” if your work does not relate to these goals.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Strongly agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Strongly agree
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Strongly agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Strongly agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Strongly agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Strongly agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

Our group is composed mainly of college students but we have always make ways to also include out-of-school youth to our activities since we are aware that it is them who would need support especially in access to information.

Part 2: Your main learning edit

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

Translation of content is one of our focus and we are aware that machine-translated articles have big lapses and inconsistencies. One major challenge we encountered is that native speakers of our language are actually not fluent of their own languages. They can converse but article-wise, their syntax and grammar differs a lot from the accepted format in local text printed in our community. There are still a lot of proofreading to be done after the articles are being published. For Language preference, mostly of the readers in Wikiprojects considered English as to be the most useful. We have tried to balance between duplicating the articles or just merely using the spaces on Wikiprojects as a storage for language preservation. Although we cannot assure at the moment that this articles in written language are to be read by a wider audience, we assume that in the next years, readers would also focus on the local language, and we also plan to offer this resource not only to those who have direct access to devices but also to those communities who have low to zero access to free information. In this 4th year of implementing the project and working with feminism, we have able to provide space for women to voice out their struggles and triumphs through social media posters.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

There are no big hindrances that has occurred aside from the need to re-schedule some of the activities as it coincided with the request of General Community Fund for our group.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

We are able to successfully carry out the virtual meet up and we see that it's a good venue for collaboration between Art+Feminism communities in different parts of the region. If it is doable in the next campaigns to partner with other regions, we will be implementing this strategy again. We also plan to do short videos next time of women having their testimonies about their experiences since we have seen the effectivity of doing social media campaigns to promote this advocacy.

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
