Part 1: Main Outcomes

edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

The “Editatona Territorio corpo-terra” was an edit-a-thon on the Lusophone Wikipedia which encompassed a series of activities carried out in May and June of 2023. It aimed to highlight, raise awareness, and address the intersection of gender and the human right to a healthy environment as a topic for impact on Wikimedia.

The project resulted from the 2022 Organizer Lab cohort and engaged in LATAM coordination for the global campaign #WikiForHumanRights2023. Furthermore, the edit-a-thon connected participants and content from America, Africa and Europe. Activities were mainly held in Portuguese, but one of them was hybrid between Portuguese and Spanish.

Here are 3 exciting things about our implementation experience:

1. We congregated 11 women specialists, from 9 activist organizations, and 6 different countries (Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Venezuela) around 3 thematic roundtables, held in Portuguese or Portuguese and Spanish.
2. The discussions led in the roundtables provided a curated list of articles, either missing or in need of improvement on the Portuguese Wikipedia.
3. The list was then addressed mostly by experienced Wikimedians engaged in the bridgework of Wikimedia’s Gender Gap within the Wiki For Human Rights campaign.

As required in the fund agreement, please report any deviations from your fund proposal here. Note that, among other things, any changes must be consistent with our WMF mission, must be for charitable purposes as defined in the grant agreement, and must otherwise comply with the grant agreement.

7. If you have not already done so in your budget report, please provide information on changes in the budget in relation to your original proposal.

There were no significant changes in the budget, except for the unspent funds, as explained bellow.

8. Do you have any unspent funds from the Fund?

Yes

8.1. Please list the amount and currency you did not use and explain why.

US$ 2,021.93

We overestimated the price of some services, such as audiovisual production and translation, which ended up costing less. In addition, we did not use food delivery and online gift vouchers as planned because we did not have the bandwidth to contract the services. This was a good contingency because (since attendance was lower than predicted) these services would have been wasted.

8.2. What are you planning to do with the underspent funds?

A. Propose to use the underspent funds within this Fund period with PO approval

8.3. Please provide details of hope to spend these funds.

We propose to spend these funds on a strategic online meeting for Lusophone wikiwomen, including members of WikiMulheres+ and Wiki editors Lx, to build on the lessons learned from this editathon and strenghten wikiwomen transatlantic relations. This way, we can better prepare for a future event along the same lines.

9.1. Are you in compliance with the terms outlined in the fund agreement?

Yes

9.2. Are you in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in the grant agreement?

Yes

9.3. Are you in compliance with provisions of the United States Internal Revenue Code (“Code”), and with relevant tax laws and regulations restricting the use of the Funds as outlined in the grant agreement? In summary, this is to confirm that the funds were used in alignment with the WMF mission and for charitable/nonprofit/educational purposes.

Yes
