Scope
editWikimedia Hong Kong would like to start a project, like the Israeli counterparts, Pikiwiki, which aims to expand the photos about Hong Kong. Photography is one of the hobbies for Hong Kong people, and some images about current scenes may have historical significance at some point in the future, so we would like to have such system to collect it now, for the use in the future.
The main problem now is: people willing to share the photos to Wikimedia Commons, but unfriendly interface and unresponsive editors make them think twice even not to share their images. So we would like to create an alternative system, to tackle this issue, and increase the pool in Wikimedia Commons.
Our target is those who like photography. The system will allow us to collect their photos and communicate with the photographers. Volunteers or staffs from us may help them to select the correct license and upload to Wikimedia Commons for them.
When we launch the website, we will hold a workshop to explain the function and show up the website.
This projects is linked with the 'Wikimedia Hong Kong and Wikimedia Asia' project, if the office project is rejected, the process and success of this project will be extended and affected.
