Goals and measures of success

Project goal

• To help the proposed CC Kenya kick off the ground.
• To improve CC awareness within Kenya.
• Undertake various projects that will increase the visibility of Creative Commons in Kenya.

Measures of success

• Increased awareness and adoption of CC.
• Translation/localization of the CC licences.
• Successful roll-out of the School of Open in Kenya.

Project scope and activities

• We intend to commission the making of a video that encapsulates the African culture of sharing. We will be using the promotional video at various outreach events we go to.
• We also intend to intend to roll out the School of Open initiative across various institutions countrywide.
• We intend to commission a research project that will be aimed at understanding the Kenyan copyright law, intellectual property law, and public domain. The outcome of this research project will be used to promote content liberation, as this project will hopefully clarify the legal grounding on Open Access in Kenya.
• We also intend to undertake various outreach activities at educational institutions across Kenya.

Transport	75,000	Transport for volunteers to get across various schools. Transport is estimated to cost 3000 per person per week, for 5 team members. The School of Open team intends to visit 5 schools by the end of the year.
End of year School of Open Event	100,000	Amount to cover food, logistics, and incidentals to undertake the event.
Participation in meetings
CC Summit	300,000	To cover the cost of 2 participants to attend the CC Summit.
Wikimania	300,000	CC Kenya will provide 2 scholarships to members to attend Wikimania.
Other	300,000	This will be used to reimburse expenses used by members to attend relevant CC meetings.
