More to learn edit

Further details about what I would like to learn.

Capacity to manage effective fundraising campaigns (including inception, communications, technical setup, and donor relations/communications) - we mainly would like to know about more fundraising opportunities off-Wiki, and maybe understand possibilities from other groups and affiliates' experiences.

Enforcing and evaluating community policies (skills and tools related to effective and equitable application and enforcement of policies and also recognising when and how policies should be evaluated and changed if needed) - our group's focuses is underrepresented communities, and through the pas 3.5 years continued work we often realize how existing community policies, namely on the wikipedia in portuguese community are so detached from the reality of those communities and the existing mainstream knowledge on these communities. We would like to know more about how we can bring up discussions and positively influence the evaluation and change of some policies.

Processes and tools to deal with abuse and harassment control (applying various online anti-harassment tools, developing and enforcing effective procedures and channels against abuse and harassment, applying the friendly space policy and code of conflict, mentorship and support for more vulnerable groups and newcomers, etc) - that is also a key learning need for us. Working on underrepresented communites, and us being from these communities - namely women, BIPOC, LGBTQIAP+, we often go through abuse and harassment and feel our work being attacked only for this. We know it's an area of the Movement that needs to be better developed and we would like to know how we can better contribute to that change. Also, that would be great if we could have assistance on how to mentor nemcomers to be better prepared for this reality.

Stories about sharing edit

Interesting stories about applying the skills I want to share.

I have a experience to share that mixes at least three of the skills I identified above, which is our experience organizing gender racial and lgbtqia+ gap edit-a-thons (Wikie Editoras Lx, the user group I'm part of). That is connected to programmatic and tactical-related skills (Small editing events, campaigns and contests and Effective training for newcomers/ newcomer experience ), but also interpersonal skills, community health and governance (Community development, capacity building and skills development) and technical skill (List building for edit contests and campaigns). We have developed a strategy to reach out to underrepresented communities, to increase not only visibility but also representation, which is to create a curatorship programme for the edit-a-thons and some regular editing events we host. We invite someone from the underrepresented community to co-build the list with us and we developed a whole procedure and tools for that. Wiki Editoras Lx come with the specific knowledge on Wikipedia pillars, rules and editing policies and the invited curator brings the invisibilized knowledge on missing content to add as well as the communication for their network. Besides supporting the overcoming of existing bias, this strategy has also increased the diversity of our editing meetings participants as well as our retained editors.
