Project ideaEdit

What is the problem you're trying to solve?Edit

Only a tiny number of editors vote for Arbitrators and other roles.

What is your solution?Edit

Create a minimum number of votes necessary to elect someone; run the election process til that number of votes is accumulated. Too many editors think their votes don't matter, when in truth there is too much cronyism and POV pushing in too many of these elections. If editors are repeatedly reminded by banners that their votes matter, they will feel like more responsible members of the community and vote. For example, only 500 odd people out of thousands of editors elected the En.Wikipedia arbitrators in 2014. At least a couple were cronies of powerful factions. There should have been a "quorum" of at least 1000 or 1500. If people refuse to vote, maybe that's a sign there is no real community and the foundation should start appointing people. Project goalsEdit

Get involvedEdit

  • Willing to promote the idea among editors in various forums. Carolmooredc (talk) 16:48, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
  • Volunteer I would like for Wikipedia to have more languages on it Cjr15 (talk) 19:23, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Endorse ideas I just added about minumum number of votes to elect people to positions. Left note for originator Mick2015 who did not fill the blanks to change or add ideas. Carolmooredc (talk) 16:48, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Expand your idea/project planEdit

  • This idea should be brought to En.Wikipedia Village pump idea lab for starters and then a group organized to promote it, as far as possible within Wikirules. (I can't do so myself for "reasons" you can read in the English Wikipedia GGTF interaction Arbitration.) Carolmooredc (talk) 16:56, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
