Grants:IdeaLab/To counter random vandalism

To counter random vandalism
Those bots that can identify probable vandalism, should be able to temporarily interrupt those edits, and subject them to a question to the editor: "Are you sure you want to save this change? It was identified by a bot as possible vandalism." The vandal editor then has to save twice rather then once. And make it a slow save. In the same way that bona fide editors have been encouraged by implementation of the recent fast save, (probable) vandals should be discouraged by a very slow save.

  • I'm not sure that this will work, but I think it will prove to be an interesting experiment. I'm a little bit worried that we'll also be training the vandals to circumvent a vandalism detector, but that might not happen in practice. --Halfak (WMF) (talk) 18:28, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
  • I support the bots and their contributions. I hope things get better. MarkiSepticPie (talk) 02:05, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
