Project idea edit

What is the problem you're trying to solve? edit

One of the main problems I see is the deep incompetence among some administrators. If contributions of user A is 99% good and the contributions of user B are 99% bad, but user A called user B an idiot for their vandalism, many bad admins will, instead of focusing on the 99% bad contributions of user B, seize on the supposed "incivility" of user A and threaten to block them for that because they are too lazy to accurately look into the potentially long contribution histories of the two users and their overall impact.

What is your solution? edit

Let the adminship of all admins expire after some time, but always allow the users whose adminship expired to reapply for renewal of their adminship.

Project goals edit

Term limited adminship will ensure that bad admins aren't allow to remain in power indefinitely just because the bar to getting them removed is too high. Instead, the community at large needs to continually and actively support the continued adminship of a given user or it simply will expire, so those whose tenure doesn't stand up to scrutiny continually are phased out of adminship.

Endorsements edit

  • This could be an easy fix by simply setting a maximum lifetime on group assignment, that is a sysop will not be indefinite. It is although not a solution to how the reappointment should be done. — Jeblad 23:33, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
