Project idea
edit(this idea was discussed on Diversity Conference 2013, so there are some notes from it) We haven't base for work with the problem; for example, from one WMF survey we knew, that we have 6% of women, and from the toolserver stats 'how many users check in preferences that they are female' we have ~23%. Where is truth? And it's only one diversity question.
- Activators so far have so far not convinced the most of others that it's valuable.
Some difficulties:
- rules in RU which prevent WMRU from getting funding from the WMF (or any foreign country, or we will be recognized as a foreign agent, and it's a lot of problems).
- we know, that females often identify as males to get their opinions taken seriously (when it's possible - for example, in on-line surveys). -> Had problem reaching out to people: people who signed up for the research may not be representative of the community (if a woman is ready to answer in an online survey that she's a woman - is she representative?).
- Translation issues: too few engaged volunteers.
Project goals
editMore diversity - the better result, isn't it? And it's a good step for growning of discussion around diversity in Russian.
