Project idea

edit

What is the problem you're trying to solve?

edit

On highly frequented pages, women's voices are rarely heard, yet the range of topics on those pages has a high impact on how Wikipedia is perceived

What is your solution?

edit

a. encourage gender diversity friendly users to imagine there will be just nice and useful answers when a topic is raised that links to female lives and female kinds of knowledge

b. encourage yourself and see how many questions come to mind :-)

c. build teams of two or three users who choose their favourite page among the highly frequented ones

d. each team creates their favourite kind of game with the aim of having fun while bringing more attention to topics associated with women

e. while team members encourage each other, they look out for any new friendly voices that might emerge, and welcome them to their implicit group

f. after a few weeks, do a feedback round among different teams and decide if you want to keep it up and how

g. write a small report and invite feedback from a wide range of users

h. restart at a. and diversify the how-to as new ideas begin to bud on how to improve the communication culture and topic range on Wikipedia's highly frequented pages

Goals

edit
  • A better impression of the impact women have on the Wikipedia community's range of knowledge and topical interests
  • More expertise (in teaming up) to contribute less frequently voiced topics on the most highly frequented Wikipedia pages
