Grants:IdeaLab/Identify friendly spaces

Identify friendly spaces
Each Wikipedia project has quite some Coordination pages where people discuss, decide, ask questions and just coordinate their activities. Sometimes even in the same project these pages do not only have a different scope but also a different tone, different people who participate, different levels of friendliness and different unwritten rules aboz acceptable and unacceptable behavior. The project aims to identify these differences, show them in a form that can be understood even by newbies and outsiders and maybe identify reasons why these differences exist.

Project idea edit

What is the problem you're trying to solve? edit

Wikipedia is confusing, even for experienced Wikipedians. A lot about what is happening in Wikipedia is rules by unwritten rules, informal agreements and informal hierarchies. The project tries to bring some light into the dark and make the meta and coordination room in a Wikipedia project more accessible and easier to understand.

What is your solution? edit

Research the differences and maybe even the reasons why these differences exist and bring the results of this research into a form that can easily be understood by outsiders.
