Compulsory anonymous monikers
If everyone edits under some generic name e.g. editor_x where x is a number identifying the editor at some particular project site and personal messages are only local to that site and not linked to the editor's email, then this will greatly reduce the problem

Project idea edit

What is the problem you're trying to solve? edit

Harassment involving inappropriate private contact.

What is your solution? edit

We need to use anonymization methods where editors are assigned generic names that are unique to only some particular project. Editors need to learn to not disclose their real life identity and be careful with identifying who they are on other projects. Personal messages need to be kept local to a project. Editors should be encouraged to create anonymous email and social media accounts that are isolated from their real life accounts if they feel the need to communicate with other editors using the usual social media sites.

  1. I'm not convinced about the need to insist on separate pseudonyms for each project. But I agree that discouraging real name accounts would give some protection from harassment. WereSpielChequers (talk) 11:14, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
