I read that there is hesitation amongst women to edit Wikipedia because they don't think it'll make any difference, and they fear for their edits to be removed. There is also a conflict-averse component to this problem.

Mute spectating / Lack of support for newcomers.

What is your solution? edit

Put emphasis on the WP:BOLD and WP:NEWBIES guidelines. Insist that the edits will make a difference. Because creation is one of the most powerful pleasures in life. It breeds our creativity. And making sure that their work has made its mark is equally as important as insuring that they know good work will not be removed immediately. Further, newcomers should be welcomed with a warm Wiki-embrace. Use the Thank feature more. Post encouraging messages on their talk pages. Stuff like that.
