Remaining Funds

We had a $0.02 remainder from this grant. The rest of the grant funds, $27,099.98, were all used towards salary for the WiR position. Instead of returning this remaining balance ($0.02) we used these funds towards a purchase from the Wikipedia Store during the grant cycle. The purchase was made in August 2016; we bought Wikipedia pins and stickers for Fall semester edit-a-thons and as such, applied the remaining funds to this purchase. A receipt for this expense has been sent via email to the WMF Grants Administrator.

Rationale

Instead of returning this amount, we decided to use these funds for Wikipedia items for attendees at our events. Our participants are always excited to get these items and promote their work with Wikipedia and this initiative, and we are happy to provide them.
