Ghana Wiki Connect

Ghana Wiki Connect (GWC) is a dynamic and passionate community initiative that was born in February 2023 with a vision to empower Ghana through free knowledge and open collaboration. Our team, initially comprising four dedicated members, was soon joined by an enthusiastic group of 16 volunteers who share our commitment to making knowledge accessible to all. They are active in various areas, including translation, outreach, and research. The community is based in the Techiman Municipality, Ghana specifically located in Techiman. It works to contribute to free knowledge and promote open data on the internet space. The group organizes events, workshops, and meetups to increase awareness of Wikimedia projects. It also works to help new users learn how to contribute to Wikimedia projects.

Objectives edit

To promote and encourage the use of Wikimedia projects in Techiman and beyond.
To support and facilitate the development of educational materials, resources, and activities based on the content of the Wikimedia projects.
To assist in the development of local Wikimedia-related projects and activities.
To promote the use of open-source and free software technologies.
To support and promote the use of open-access resources.
To serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge related to Wikimedia projects.
To build a strong and active community of GWC.
To foster collaboration and partnership among GWC.
To provide guidance and support to new Wikimedians in the Techiman and surrounding communities.
To advocate for the free sharing of knowledge and information.
